Following an Assessment contact conducted on 2-3 August 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that The Baptisit Union of Queensland failed to meet one Aged Care Quality Standard (Quality Standards) in relation to Carinity Cedarbrook. On 18 September 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet one Quality Standard has placed the safety, health or well-being of an aged care consumer of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

On 29 March 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that The Baptist Union of Queensland failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Carinity Fairfield Grange and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. A site audit was conducted by the Quality Agency on 3 July 2018 to 5 July 2018 at Carinity Fairfield Grange to assess the performance of the service against the Accreditation Standards. The Quality Agency found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

Serious risk decision On 2 January 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that The Baptist Union of Queensland failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Carinity Fairfield Grange and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. We will continue to monitor the performance of the home including through unannounced visits.
