    During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service 29 March 2023. The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

  10. Serious risk decision

    On 29 March 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that The Baptist Union of Queensland failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Carinity Fairfield Grange and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. A site audit was conducted by the Quality Agency on 3 July 2018 to 5 July 2018 at Carinity Fairfield Grange to assess the performance of the service against the Accreditation Standards. The Quality Agency found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.

The period of accreditation of this service will expire on 02 January 2019. The approved provider of the service meets 38 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. The Review Audit Report is attached. Serious risk decision On 2 January 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that The Baptist Union of Queensland failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Carinity Fairfield Grange and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. We will continue to monitor the performance of the home including through unannounced visits.
