    During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service 15 June 2023. The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

  12. Serious risk decision

    Following an assessment contact conducted on 20 May 2019, a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a decision that Carino Care Pty Ltd failed to meet two expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Carino Care at Oatley. On 4 July 2019 a decision was made that the failure to meet one of these expected outcomes has placed the safety, health or well-being of a consumer of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

    Decision to revoke accreditation Following a review audit conducted on 7 May 2018 to 18 May 2018, a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 17 August 2018 to revoke the accreditation of this service. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 8 September 2019. Ark Health Care (Hillcrest & Russell Lea) Pty Ltd, the approved provider of the service meets 23 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. The Review Audit Report is attached. Serious risk decision On 17 June 2018 the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that failure by Ark Health Care (Hillcrest & Russell Lea) Pty Ltd to meet expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Ark Health Care Oatley placed, or may have placed, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time. Please note: As at 14 August 2018, Tierra Care Pty Ltd is now the Approved Provider for this service. The service has been renamed Carino Care at Oatley.
