    This decision is made under section 41(3) of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission Rules 2018 (Commission Rules), on the further period for which a residential service is to be accredited – to affirm Accreditation decision Following a site-audit conducted on 15 December 2021 to 17 December 2021, the Commission made a decision on 19 January 2022 to reaccredit this service for a further period. The decision on the service’s accreditation period was affirmed following reconsideration on 1 April 2022. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 19 January 2025.

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 11 April 2022. The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

  12. Serious risk decision

    On 22 January 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that Trustees of the Christian Brothers failed to meet one or more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Charingfield and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

    Review audit decision Following a review audit conducted on 8 January 2018 to 18 January 2018, a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 11 April 2018 to vary the period of accreditation of this service. The period of accreditation of the service will expire on 11 October 2018. The approved provider of the service meets 16 of the 44 expected outcomes of the Accreditation Standards. The Review Audit Report is attached.
