  5. Exceptional Circumstances

    During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission has temporarily modified our Regulatory Program, including the suspension of site audits to determine whether to accredit, not to re-accredit or vary the periods of accreditation for a service. In order to give effect to continuity of accreditation the Department of Health has, under Section 42.5 of the Aged Care Act 1997, made a decision to grant ‘exceptional circumstances’ to this service until 21 October 2021. The service remains subject to compliance monitoring by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission.

  8. Serious risk decision

    On 22 September 2017 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision that Hillside at Figtree failed to meet one of more expected outcomes in the Accreditation Standards in relation to Hillside Brae Pty Ltd and that this failure has placed, or may place, the safety, health or wellbeing of a care recipient of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. The Quality Agency will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

    Following the audit, an authorised delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision on 22 September 2017 not to re-accredit this service. Following reconsideration, a delegate of the CEO decided to set aside the decision made on 22 September 2017 and substitute a new decision to re-accredit the service.
