  16. Serious risk decision

    Following a re-accreditation site audit conducted on 11-14 November 2019 a delegate of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commissioner made a finding that Christadelphian Homes Limited failed to meet seventeen Aged Care Quality Standards (Quality Standards) in relation to Courtlands Aged Care Facility. On 19 December 2019 a decision was made that failure to meet three Quality Standards has placed the safety, health or well-being of an aged care consumer of the service at serious risk. The Department of Health has been notified of the risk. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will continue to monitor the performance of the service including through unannounced visits.

    On 23 November 2018 a delegate of the CEO of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency made a decision in relation to Courtlands Aged Care Facility that failure to meet one expected outcome in the Accreditation Standards has placed the safety, health or wellbeing of care recipients of the service at serious risk. An assessment contact was conducted on 31 January 2019 at Courtlands Aged Care Facility to monitor the service’s progress. The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission found the service complies with all Accreditation Standards. Serious risk is not an ongoing state; it is a statutory decision based on evidence at a point in time.
